March 2016 -- JMA Solutions President & CEO Jan Adams was featured in the March 2016 issue of The Southwester, an online and print newspaper focused on the Southwest DC community. The newspaper is maintained by a volunteer editorial staff and is published by the Southwest Neighborhood Assembly (SWNA), a non-profit, charitable and educational corporation.
Contributors Audrey Hinton and Thelma D. Jones highlighted Ms. Adams charitable efforts in an article entitled “Southwest Business Gives Back.” Most notably cited is Ms. Adams’ recent donation to the SWNA Education and Scholarship Task Force (ESTF), which ESTF chair described as one of the largest contributions since their founding in 1974. The SWNA Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to youth residing in Southwest Washington, DC who are pursuing or wish to pursue an education at any accredited undergraduate college or university or technical institution.

March 2016-- JMA Solutions is a strong supporter of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and their critical mission to improve educational opportunities for minority students. Because education is one of JMA's core values, JMA’s charitable efforts ensure students are able to attend school and perform to the best of their ability.
On Saturday, March 5, 2016, JMA sponsored and attended the UNCF Mayor’s Masked ball in Washington, DC, hosted by Mayor Muriel Bowser. The event is an annual fundraiser held in various cities across the nation and raises thousands of dollars to benefit UNCF Scholarship Programs. This year’s black-tie ball featured a parade of dignitaries, which included a formal dinner and live entertainment. Attendees also bid on live auction packages, including a weekend at the Kentucky Derby, Super Bowl 51 tickets, movie premiere tickets and more.
UNCF is the largest and most effective minority education organization in the United States. For over 70 years, the UNCF has played a major role in enabling thousands of students nationwide to achieve a higher education. The organization, in fact, has raised more than $4.5 billion that has helped more than 400,000 students attend college. Each year, the organization awards 10,000 scholarships and internships for students from low- and moderate-income families, allowing them to attend more than $1,100 institutions and universities.
According to UNCF Advocacy, “the latest iteration of UNCF’s PSAs frames support for minority education as investment in better futures for students and all of us, and expands the iconic motto 'A mind is a terrible thing to waste, but a wonderful thing to invest in.'”

9-day spring break trip to Ecuador for a group of students from Jefferson MS Academy in Southwest DC.March 2016 -- As a part of the DC Adopt-a-School Program, JMA Solutions recently sponsored a
Jefferson Academy planned the trip to expand the student's horizons and build character through community service. The goal of the trip was to help students gain valuable leadership skills by working directly with an indigenous tribe on a development project. This project exposed them to the tribe's history, traditions and culture. JMA's sponsorship helped nearly a dozen students travel to Ecuador for this undoubtedly memorable experience.
JMA is a very proud partner of the DCPS Adopt-a-School program. We highly value the support of our local Southwest DC community and especially take pride in supporting students and educators. Some of our recent and past support for DCPS includes mentoring, tutoring, donating schools supplies, volunteer work, and sponsoring school events.
